Driver Dies Following Crash on Dan Ryan Expressway

October 12, 2010 - The man who caused a three-car crash on the Dan Ryan Expressway has died from his injuries. According to a report at the Chicago Sun-Times, the victim lost control of his vehicle on the expressway and caused a chain-reaction crash that involved three vehicles.

Police say the driver was speeding when the car accident occurred shortly before midnight on Saturday. The driver was on the northbound side of the Dan Ryan Expressway when he lost control of his vehicle near 67^th Street. His car then crashed into a retaining wall before slamming into a truck that was also heading northbound. The force of the collision caused the pickup truck to crash into another car on the expressway. The other drivers involved were not injured, but the driver who caused this crash was ejected from his car.

First responders transported the victim to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital, where he died later that day. Police have not said if alcohol contributed to this fatal crash. A number of lanes on the Dan Ryan Expressway were closed for several hours on Saturday morning as police investigated the crash.
