Cyclist Dies in Hit-and-Run Accident in South Chicago

January 19, 2011 - A cyclist was killed on Monday evening in what police are describing as a possible hit-and-run accident. According to a report at the Chicago Breaking News Center, the victim's body was discovered by a city worker who was operating a snow plow around 6 p.m. on Monday.

The victim has not yet been identified, and the police department's Major Accident Investigation Unit is still investigating this fatal accident. The city worker discovered the body on Pershing Road in the Wentworth Gardens area of South Chicago. According to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, the victim is a man in his 30s. Police believe he was riding a bicycle at the time of the crash, and his injuries lead investigators to think he was hit by a car. Police say the body was in the middle of the road when it was discovered.
