September 30, 2010 – A collision between a car and a bicycle on Tuesday left the cyclist with serious and perhaps life-threatening personal injuries. According to a report at ABC 7 Chicago, the serious bicycle accident occurred shortly before 11 p.m. on Tuesday night.Police have released few details about this accident, but initial reports indicate that the victim was cycling in the South Side of Chicago in the Hamilton Park neighborhood when he or she was hit by a car. The collision happened in the 7400 block of South Emerald Avenue, near the intersection with 74th Street.The victim suffered extensive personal injuries and was transported by ambulance to Advocate Christ Medical Center. Police say the victim is currently in critical condition. There’s no word on whether or not the victim was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Neither the victim nor the car’s driver have been identified.The Chicago Police Department continues to investigate this crash. It was not immediately known if the car’s driver was at fault and no charges have been filed as of Wednesday afternoon.
