Christmas Morning Car Accident Claims Life of 14-Year-Old Girl
December 28, 2010 - Christmas morning took a tragic turn this year when an early morning crash resulted in the death of a 14-year-old girl near Sauk Village.
According to reports on MyFoxCHicago.com, police were called to the accident site on Sauk Trail Road around 9:45 a.m. on Christmas morning after receiving reports of a collision between a car and an SUV.
Police believe that icy roads may be to blame for this fatal car accident, as it seems that one vehicle "skidded" into the other, which did not have enough time to safely maneuver out of the way. The young victim was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, but at least one other person was injured in the crash and transported to St. James Hospital and Medical Center for treatment. There is no word on that person's identity or their current condition.
The 14-year-old's death has already been ruled as an accident by the medical examiner's office.
While the tragic accident does remain under investigation by local authorities, a spokesperson for the Cook County Sheriff's office told reporters that no citations will be issued in response to the crash.
