Chicago Teenager Killed in Pedestrian Accident

June 14, 2010 - A Chicago teenager died on Saturday after she was hit by a SUV and dragged along the road. According to reports at The Chicago Tribune, the 18-year-old victim was at a party on North Neva Avenue when she fell into the road and was struck by the SUV.

Police are still investigating the fatal pedestrian accident, but initial reports indicate that the victim, who was a student at Proviso West High School, accidentally tripped and fell. She was then hit by the SUV, which was driven by a 15-year-old girl. Police say there was a gang fight at the party, which contributed to the frenzy that led to the car accident.

The 18-year-old victim was taken to Loyola University Medical Center, where she later died from her personal injuries. Eyewitness accounts indicate that she was pinned under the SUV when first responders arrived. The victim was a cheerleader at Proviso West High School, and she was planning to attend Triton College in the fall. Police are interrogating the driver of the SUV, but no charges have been filed as of this time.
