Chicago Teenager Dies in Drag Racing Accident on I-94

July 27, 2010 - Numerous questions are swirling after a Chicago teenager was killed in a drag racing accident on the Dan Ryan Expressway, also known as Interstate 94. According to reports at the Chicago Sun-Times, the 18-year-old boy was struck on I-94 shortly before 3:30 a.m. on Saturday morning. However, his body was found in an alley more than a mile away from the crash site.

Police say that two cars, a Chevrolet van and a Dodge sedan, were drag racing on the northbound side of I-94 when they crashed into one another, sending the van rolling into a nearby ditch. The Dodge vehicle then hit the 18-year-old teen, who police believe was standing near the crashed van. It is currently unclear if the teen had been a passenger in the van or if he was just a witness to the collision.

A witness who saw the crash called police. When they arrived, the van was empty and the Dodge sedan had fled the scene. The victim was also nowhere to be found. Six hours later, the boy's body was discovered in an alley at the intersection of Wabash Avenue and 63^rd Street on Chicago's South Side. Police are currently looking for the driver of the Dodge, which is described as a dark grey sedan.
