Chicago Police Officers Hit With Stolen Car

September 23, 2010 - Two officers with the Chicago Police Department were injured last Thursday when they were hit by a driver in a stolen car. According to a report at CBS 2 Chicago, the officers were patrolling in separate squad cars when a stolen vehicle plowed into both squad cars on the South Side of Chicago. The car accident occurred shortly before 8 p.m. on Thursday night.

Police say the suspect had stolen the car an hour earlier from Stony Island Avenue. The suspect later crashed into the police cruisers near the intersection of King Drive and 64^th Street. The driver of the stolen car and a passenger were arrested after the accident. The police officers suffered non-life-threatening personal injuries, but they were taken by ambulance to Little Company of Mary Hospital. Both officers have been released and are expected to make a full recovery.

Police have not identified the driver of the stolen vehicle or his passenger, and there's no word on what charges will be filed against the suspects. It appears that the suspects were not injured in the crash.
