Chicago Pedestrian Injured in Accident on Magnificent Mile


February 17, 2011 - A pedestrian suffered personal injuries on Wednesday when he was hit by a car on Michigan Avenue in downtown Chicago. According to a report at the Chicago Breaking News Center, police believe that the victim will survive his injuries.

The Chicago Police Department continues to investigate this pedestrian accident. Officers say the victim was crossing Michigan Avenue at the intersection with Ohio Street when he was struck around 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon. First responders shut down the entire northbound side of Michigan Avenue while they treated the victim and investigated the crash. The victim, who has not yet been identified, is being treated for his injuries at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. His condition is currently unknown.

Police say the victim was conscious after the crash and able to respond to paramedics. They say his injuries are not considered to be extremely serious. Pictures from the scene show the man with a neck brace on a stretcher being treated by paramedics. The car involved in this pedestrian accident was not pictured in the photograph, and the driver has not been identified.
