Chicago Car Accident Kills One, Injures Seven

May 10, 2010 - Four vehicles were involved in a serious car accident on Friday that left one person dead and another seven with personal injuries. According to reports at WGNtv.com, the car accident occurred on the Southwest side of Chicago shortly before 4 p.m. on Friday afternoon.

Police are still investigating this fatal crash, but we do know that 3 cars and one van were involved in the accident. According to initial reports, the van was traveling through the intersection of Kedzie and Archer Avenues when it struck 3 pedestrians and 3 vehicles. Police have not said if the driver of the van ran a red light, but the driver -- who suffered non-life-threatening injuries -- has been arrested.

One of the pedestrians, a 40-year-old male, later died at Mount Sinai Hospital. The other 7 victims are receiving treatment for their personal injuries at 3 different local hospitals. Their identities have not yet been released. One of the critically injured victims is a child, but his or her condition is not known at this time. The police investigation into this fatal car crash is ongoing.
