Chicago Bus Accident Injures Nine

August 9, 2010 - Nine people suffered personal injuries on Friday when a city bus was rear-ended by a car on the West Side of Chicago. According to a report at the Chicago Breaking News Center, the bus accident occurred shortly before 8 a.m. on Friday morning.

The bus, which was operated by the Chicago Transportation Authority, was traveling westbound on Roosevelt Road in the Homan Square neighborhood when it was hit by a car while unloading passengers at a bus stop. The driver who caused this accident has not been identified and there is no word on the type of vehicle he or she was driving.

Approximately 9 people were injured, but all are expected to survive. The victims were transported to local hospitals, and at least a few of the victims are listed in serious condition. Most of the injuries were said to be minor in nature. The CTA bus suffered serious damage and has been removed from service for repairs.

The identities of the victims have not been released, and police have not said if the driver will face charges in connection with the crash.
