Chicago Bus Accident in Bridgeport Injures 8 People

September 22, 2010 - Numerous people suffered personal injuries on Tuesday when a Chicago Transit Authority bus crashed into another vehicle in Bridgeport. According to a report at the Chicago Breaking News Center, the accident occurred on the South Side of Chicago shortly before 12 p.m. on Tuesday.

The CTA bus was traveling through the intersection of Ashland Avenue and 35^th Street when it collided with another vehicle. Police have not said if that vehicle was a car, truck or other bus. Although an investigation into this accident is ongoing, police believe the other vehicle turned in front of the bus, which caused the accident. The bus was traveling southbound towards Ashland.

The driver of the bus and 7 passengers suffered personal injuries, and all were transported to nearby hospitals for treatment. It appears that the occupants of the other vehicle were not injured. While police believe all of the victims should survive, 7 of the injured are currently in fair or serious condition. Their identities have not yet been released. More information on this serious bus accident will be added if and when it becomes available.
