Car pulling out of restaurant parking lot hits motorcycle

In Indiana last week, two riders of a motorcycle were taken to a hospital after a motorcycle accident in which they were hit by a car emerging from a parking lot of a restaurant.

This is yet another example of a car failing to yield the right of way to a motorcycle.  In the Midwest, we can expect an increased incidence of this as car drivers not ready for the return of motorcycles to the road after the winter fail to keep alert for motorcycle riders.

On thing that also grabbed my attention about this news story is the fact that the car was pulling out of a restaurant parking lot.  This is something which raises a question about whether the driver of the car was driving while intoxicated.

If there is anything to indicate that this was so, that investigation must be undertaken immediately, as cases under the Illinois Dram Shop Act have a 1 year statute of limitations.
