Car Hits Building on Chicago’s South Side

July 21, 2010 - An unknown number of people were injured early Tuesday morning when a car hit a building. According to reports at the Chicago Breaking News Center, the car accident occurred shortly before 3 a.m. on Chicago's South Side.

Police have released few details about this car accident at the time of this writing, but initial reports indicate that only one car was involved. The vehicle was driving on South Jeffery Boulevard when the driver lost control and plowed into a nearby building. Police officers responding to the scene did not immediately disclose how many people were involved, but at least one person was injured. The victim, who has yet to be identified, is being treated for personal injuries at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. His or her condition is not known at this time.

Officers with the Chicago Police Department are still investigating this accident and they will be seeking to determine if alcohol played a role in this early-morning crash. There was no immediate word on what building was hit or if it sustained any damage.
