Avalon Park Woman Dies in Motorcycle Crash

October 12, 2010 - A mother of three young children died on Monday after she collided with a car while riding a motorcycle. According to a report at NBC Chicago, the accident occurred shortly after midnight on Monday morning while the victim was riding her motorcycle on Lake Shore Drive near the intersection with Irving Park Road.

Police are still investigating how the fatal crash occurred, but they believe that the victim collided with a car while one of the drivers was changing lanes on the southbound side of Lake Shore Drive. It's not known who was at fault, but the car involved did not have side mirrors that would have allowed the driver to see other vehicles around him or her. Witnesses saw the victim fly off her motorcycle and crash into a guard rail.

The victim has been identified as a 34-year-old woman from Avalon Park in Chicago. Police say she has 3 children, including a 3-year-old girl, 13-year-old girl and a 5-year-old boy. The driver of the car was not injured and has not yet been identified. It is not currently known if the driver will be charged in this fatal motorcycle accident, but police have issued several citations to that driver.
