At Least One Injured in Three-Car Crash on I-80

September 14, 2010 - New Lenox Township, IL - At least one person was injured in a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 Sunday afternoon.

The Herald-News reports that the car crash occurred at around 4:22 p.m. Sunday afternoon on I-80 between I-355 and La Grange Road. Three cars collided on the interstate, scattering enough debris to cover both the westbound and eastbound lanes.

Officials have confirmed that at least 1 person was injured in the crash. The victim was transported to Silver Cross Hospital in Joliet. Details concerning the victim's medical condition and the nature of his or her injuries are unknown at this time.

The Will County Coroner was on the scene a couple hours after the crash. However, the coroner could not give any information concerning the car accident or any fatalities that may have occurred.

The three-car collision caused all lanes on the interstate to be blocked off for several hours as the scene was investigated and cleaned up. Crash reconstruction officers were on the scene taking pictures and measurements for some time. The accident remains under investigation.
